Different choirs: Wellington Welsh Society choir

Members of the Wellington Welsh Society choir, wearing traditional dress, are shown in the temporary 5ZB studio at the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition at Rongotai, Wellington, in 1940. With them is senior announcer and radio station manager Ian Mackay and his wife (centre). 5ZB, a commercial station, was the official voice of the exhibition. It broadcast many of the events and entertainments, of which Welsh choral singing seems to have been one.
