In 2013 scholar Gerri Kimber (pictured) found a new story by Katherine Mansfield in a collection of papers from Mansfield's husband John Middleton Murry, recently acquired by the Alexander Turnbull Library. The story is called 'Sumurun: an impression of Leopoldine Konstantin', and was probably written in 1910 or 1911. Kimber concluded that Mansfield had been to Sumurun, a play by director Max Reinhardt, in which Leopoldine Konstantin played the title role, and speculated that in the photograph Mansfield was dressing like Konstantin.
The library planned to published the dark, erotic story online once copyright issues were resolved.
