
New Zealander David Howman was director-general of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) from 2003 to 2016. Before taking up this position he was a sports law barrister. Howman was counsel for the New Zealand Sports Drug Agency (renamed Drug Free Sport New Zealand in 2006) and then chaired the organisation from 2000 to 2003.
