Pōwhiri for rugby team, 2012

A tattooed warrior holding a taiaha (traditional wooden weapon) lays down a formal challenge to the visiting Irish rugby team at Hamilton in June 2012. Team captain Brian O'Driscoll is shown warily accepting the challenge. Māori custom is increasingly incorporated into non-traditional situations and settings throughout New Zealand society.
