Jazzercise, a series of vigorous exercises to music, became extremely popular in the 1980s. These Wellington men and women took part in a class led by a lycra-clad instructor in 1983. The trend for figure-hugging gym gear had not yet completely caught on, as the photograph shows, but it soon would.
