Auckland City qualified for the tournament by winning the New Zealand Football Championship between eight regional or city franchises, and then winning the Oceania Champions League. At the tournament Auckland City made it to the quarter-finals and then defeated TP Mazembe in this match 3–2 to claim fifth place.
