Precious McKenzie

Precious McKenzie performs a world record squat with 232.5 kilograms, in the United States, in 1982. McKenzie, well-known in the field of Olympic weightlifting, was also a champion powerlifter. Originally from South Africa, he was prevented from competing for his birth country due to its apartheid race laws. In 1973 McKenzie won the powerlifting world championship in the 56 kilograms category representing Great Britain. He won the same category in 1978 and 1980 representing his adopted country of New Zealand.
