Last day of school

Last day of school

Watched by their teacher, children of Wilton School in Wellington race jubilantly across the playground to the school gates on their last day of school for the year, 14 December 1972. In New Zealand the school year ends just before Christmas, and a long summer holiday for both pupils and teachers has been the norm since the 19th century.
