No holiday for Mum

The difficulties of caring for children on holiday without the usual facilities of home are shown in this 1940 photograph of a woman bathing her baby in a tin bath outside the tent. For many women a holiday was not a break from work – in fact, the usual domestic chores were even more labour intensive.
