Resembling scaled-down Formula One racing cars, superkarts have fully enclosed wheels and aerodynamic bodies, enabling them to reach speeds higher than those of much larger and more powerful vehicles. These superkarts are about to start a race at Hampton Downs, north Waikato, in February 2013. The previous year two-time New Zealand superkart champion Karl Wilson won a crushing victory in the Superstars of Superkarts race in California.
