Allison Roe in the New York Marathon, 1981

In 1981 New Zealander Allison Roe won the prestigious New York Marathon. Initially it was thought that she had set a new world record with her time of two hours 25 minutes 29 seconds, but the course was found to be 150 metres short. She cuts a commanding figure on her way to victory.
