Mazda MX-5 world record, 2005

The Guinness book of records recorded a world record for the longest continuous parade of Mazda MX-5 sports cars when 249 vehicles lined up at Auckland's Alexandra Park Raceway in 2005 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the car. The MX-5 is the best selling two-seater convertible sports car in history, and there were more than 3,000 MX-5s on New Zealand roads by 2010. The MX-5 Car Club, formed in 1990, represented about 500 of these vehicles in 2012.
