Pole vaulters Hori Eruera and Jimmy Te Paa, late 1890s

Hori Eruera (left) and Jimmy Te Paa were leading New Zealand pole vaulters in the 1890s. Both won Australasian titles in the late 1890s, with heights that matched those of the best northern-hemisphere athletes.
