Tākou Bay

Tākou Bay

While there are many opinions on the route taken by the Mataatua canoe, both Ngāpuhi and Bay of Plenty peoples who claim descent from the canoe agree that its final resting place is here at Tākou Bay. In 1986 both groups held a reunion to commemorate the event.
