
Eyebrow waxing, which was quick and relatively cheap, was an alternative to plucking for women who wanted to shape their eyebrows. A waxing is about to be done in this photograph, taken at the opening of an ‘eyelash bar’. Semi-permanent false eyelashes, dyeing, and eyebrow waxing were the mainstays of such businesses.
