School darts competition, 2010

School darts competition, 2010

Luke Moratti, shown here concentrating on his shot, was the eventual winner of the inaugural Otago Boys' High School senior darts competition, in August 2010. For many years darts was not considered a suitable sport for schools. This may have been due to its association with clubs, pubs and wagers on games. Since the 1950s darts has become more organised as a sport, in part due to the activities of darts clubs. Darts began to spread as an organised school sport in the early 2000s.
