Tom Lowry (3rd of 4)

Tom Lowry

Born in Hastings, Tom Lowry went to England at the age of 23 where he played cricket for both Cambridge University and Somerset. Backed by this experience, he proved himself an effective captain of both the 1927 and 1931 New Zealand sides which toured England. He had high standards of discipline and focused on winning games. He was a solid batsman with an average from seven tests of 27.87. He also managed the 1937 team which toured England.
