Hetekara Tautahi

In 1900 Hetekara Tautahi, a chief of the south Taranaki tribe Ngā Rauru, dictated traditions relating to the voyage of the Aotea canoe from Hawaiki to New Zealand to scholar S. Percy Smith. Tautahi traced his ancestry back to Turi, captain of the Aotea.
