Professional Australasian championships: National Rugby League

Warriors hooker Nathan Friend intercepts a mid-air Josh Hoffman of the Brisbane Broncos during a National Rugby League (NRL) match in Auckland in May 2012.  Friend, an Australian, switched to the Warriors in 2012 after playing for the Broncos and other Australian League teams. The New Zealand-based Warriors are the only non-Australian team to have played in the NRL. In 2006 the team was found to have breached the cap on salaries paid to its top players.
