From the 1970s there was a revival of demand for colonial furniture. Cabinetmakers responded to the trend by using demolition native timber to fabricate new pieces in the colonial style. In 1991 the Paraparaumu furniture makers Brendan Whitaker (left) and Roger Ravenwood made this rimu dresser from timber salvaged from the Wellington City Council stables.
