Judge Thaddeus McCarthy

Sir Thaddeus McCarthy, while president of the Court of Appeal, chaired an important commission of inquiry into the Māori Land Court in 1987. The findings also reflected the views of younger judges such as Edward Taihakurei Durie, who had recently been appointed chief judge of the Māori Land Court.
