Tokaanu Native Land Court meeting, 1914

These Māori are attending a Native Land Court meeting at Tokaanu, near Lake Taupō, in 1914. In this period some legislative protections were created to help Māori retain control of their remaining lands. However, more than 800,000 hectares was sold between 1909 and 1923.
