Africa Information Centre opening

Africa Information Centre opening

The Africa Information Centre in Wellington was opened in 1978 by Egypt's ambassador, I. Z. Sorour (seen speaking in the background of this photograph). He was at the time the only ambassador from an African nation in New Zealand. The centre, which closed during the 1980s, was supported by the National government of the day – Minister of Foreign Affairs Brian Talboys attended the opening. The centre's resources were used by businesspeople, the media and teachers.
