Te Kura o Hoani Waititi marae, a Māori language immersion primary school at the Hoani Waititi marae in Auckland, was opened in 1985. Dignitaries in the back row, from left to right, are educationalist John Bennett, Prime Minister David Lange, marae founder Dr Pita Sharples, Sadie Graham and Paul Reeves, who was then the Anglican Bishop of Auckland and Primate of New Zealand (later governor-general).
