A New Zealand C130 Hercules flies over Kiwi Base in Bamyan Province, Afghanistan. In the early 2000s the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s five C130 Hercules aircraft were used for transport purposes. Normally configured to accommodate 92 troops or 64 paratroopers, they could fit 74 stretchers when configured for medical-evacuation purposes. They were crewed by two pilots, one navigator, one flight engineer and two loadmasters, who supervised the loading and unloading of the aircraft.
