Story: Coat of arms

The governor-general’s flag

The governor-general’s flag

Phillip O’Shea, the New Zealand herald of arms (left), and Sir Anand Satyanand, governor-general of New Zealand from 2006 to 2011, display the latest version of the governor-general’s flag, which includes the vice-regal coat of arms. While the shield and crown are identical to those on the New Zealand coat of arms, the governor-general’s coat of arms does not include the European and Māori figures, the scroll or the fern leaves that appear on the New Zealand coat of arms.
