Noel Lough and Henry Lang

Noel Lough (left) and Henry Lang both studied economics at university and worked for periods in the Economic Stabilisation Commission, moving to Treasury in the early 1950s when the commission was disbanded. Friends as well as colleagues, they were both to hold the office of secretary to the Treasury – Lang from 1969 to 1976, and Lough from 1976 to 1980.
