Sylvia Gytha de Lancey Chapman (left) with an unidentified woman, 1 May 1940. Although she achieved national prominence as a medical reformer, president of the YWCA, and founder of CORSO in New Zealand, Dr Sylvia Chapman was shy and quiet, with strong spiritual beliefs.
