Mounted Rifles Regiment parading through Nelson

As in the South African War (1899–1902), New Zealand contributed some mounted horsemen to the First World War effort. They proved especially valuable in the Middle East. Here, members of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Regiment parade through Nelson on 18 August 1914.
