Government House in Wellington has hosted Queen Elizabeth II and many other heads of state and leading politicians. In 1953 these included US Vice-President Richard Nixon and his wife, Pat (left), seen presenting Lord and Lady Norrie with a photograph of US President Dwight Eisenhower.
