Returned servicemen prepare for public service exam, 1920

These veterans of the First World War are shown during a special class at Clyde Quay School in Wellington, which aimed to prepare them to sit the public service examination. Classes like this were provided by the government as part of the rehabilitation of returned servicemen to help them catch up on the education, training and other career opportunities they had missed while serving in the war, and to help reintegrate them into New Zealand society.
