Māori professionals: Māui Pōmare

Dressed in formal attire, Māui Pōmare poses for the camera in 1923. Pōmare was a doctor and a member of the executive council in Prime Minister William Massey’s government. Many Māori were denied access to the education which could lead to professional careers.
