Mormon meeting, Māhia

This large crowd is attending a meeting of the Mormon Church at Te Māhanga on the Māhia Peninsula, northern Hawke's Bay. Māhia was one of several mainly Māori districts that adopted the Mormon faith almost universally during a wave of conversions from the mid-1880s.
