Repudiation movement

Repudiation movement

The repudiation movement was based in Hawke's Bay and was headed by Henare Matua. The movement had its own Māori-language newspaper. Its philosophy was based around repudiating unfair leases and purchases. A number of its members later joined the Kotahitanga movement.
