Red Cross depot

Red Cross depot

Hospital supplies are packed at a Red Cross depot in Nelson for despatch to Egypt and England during the First World War. A branch of the British Red Cross was formed in New Zealand in 1915 and its volunteers provided war relief services such as this. An independent New Zealand Red Cross was established in 1931.
