Story: Health practitioners

Heavy workload

Heavy workload

Doctors often work long hours, a circumstance that has often been the subject of industrial action. In 2006 junior doctor Michelle Locke joined her colleagues in going on strike over pay and conditions. Because she worked very long hours, her annual salary of $105,000 amounted to an hourly rate of around $18.
