Rua addresses his people

This photograph shows prophet Rua Kēnana addressing his people from a walkway that led to the upper door of his temple Hiona (Zion), at Maungapōhatu in the Urewera forest, in 1908. Rua, a charismatic leader and prophet, founded the community at the base of Tūhoe's sacred mountain.
