The narrow premises of the Tung Jung Association, the Chinese community organisation formed in New Zealand in 1926, are still standing in Wellington’s Frederick Street. This area, particularly around nearby Haining Street, was the city’s 'Chinatown' until the 1960s. The association's small building was one of the last remaining signs of the district’s cultural link with Chinese migrants.
