Empties after cricket match

This collection of beer bottles was left on the grass at the Events Centre in Queenstown after an international cricket match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka on New Year's Eve 2006. In New Zealand male culture there has long been a close association between heavy drinking and sport. This has contributed to the ill health and deaths of men, through such problems as heart disease and violence.
