Story: Pacific churches in New Zealand

King Kapisi

King Kapisi

Wellington-born Samoan hip-hop artist King Kapisi (Bill Urale) performs at Victoria University in 2004. King Kapisi's songs are critical of the role of organised religion in Pacific societies, suggesting that the church's hold on some Pacific youth might be weakening. His song 'Fix Amnesia' includes the lines, 'Religious idols play cool games, mind roulette. (Someone constantly watching over you) it's just religious bullshit.'
