Te Aurere

Te Aurere

Te Aurere is an ocean-going vessel that was the lifework of the noted Tai Tokerau elder, Sir Hekenukumai Busby. Utilising traditional materials and navigational methods, Te Aurere has sailed several times between New Zealand, the Cook Islands and Tahiti, recreating journeys taken by Polynesian ancestors 700–800 years ago.
