The 28th (Māori) Battalion (2nd of 3)

The 28th (Māori) Battalion

Among the initiatives spearheaded by Āpirana Ngata was the formation of the Pioneer and Māori Battalions, who saw action in both world wars. Shown here performing the haka, the 28th (Māori) Battalion established an international reputation for its courage and effectiveness as a fighting force during the Second World War.
