New Zealand Players on tour, 1954

As international touring acts declined in number, local productions emerged. From 1953 to 1960 a professional group, the New Zealand Players, took serious plays to New Zealand audiences. Although they toured throughout the country, visiting small towns as well as cities, they attracted larger audiences in cities.
