Wellington rugby team, 1875

This Wellington rugby team played in Nelson in July 1875. The result was a draw, with one goal each. Nelson was the site of the first known game in New Zealand played under rugby rules. Although rugby spread quickly throughout New Zealand, it thrived particularly in the cities and larger settlements of the colony
