Robert Muldoon, accountant and future prime minister

Robert Muldoon, prime minister of New Zealand from 1975 to 1984, trained as an accountant while serving with the New Zealand army in the Second World War. This photo shows him as a lance-corporal in Italy in 1945, where he completed his final exams.
