All Black Bob Scott stands in his Petone menswear shop in 1956. With their posh clothes and refined manners, urban men were often considered less rugged and even effeminate in comparison with rural men. Scott and other city-based All Blacks challenged that stereotype by being both rugged and stylish, and in 2009 All Black Dan Carter was also a fashion model.
