Robert Muldoon’s road show, 1975

In the 1975 election campaign Robert Muldoon used charts to raise concern about the level of New Zealand’s international debt. He showed that in the previous year New Zealand had run a substantial deficit on its current account, which had the effect, as shown in his chart (right), of increasing the country’s borrowing.
