Tip Top

Workers at the Tip Top factory in Auckland load canisters of ice cream into the fridge. The photograph was taken between the mid-1940s and 1960s. Ice-cream production increased rapidly from the late 1940s as home freezers became more common. From 1935 to 1970 ice-cream consumption per head of population increased 18-fold.
