Tony Taurima and Colin Manson, union officials at the Ocean Beach freezing works in Southland, look thoughtful before a shed meeting in 1984. There was a large number of Māori workers at the plant, as the management had filled labour shortages with Māori workers from Northland and the East Coast in the 1960s and 1970s.
