Story: Cars and the motor industry

Todd Park

Todd Park

The Todd Park motor assembly plant at Porirua operated from 1973 to 1998. At its peak it employed 1,500 workers and produced 22,000 cars a year. The plant covered 33 hectares on a site overlooking the city. In the early 2000s, Mitsubishi Motors used part of the facility to recycle used parts.
